Course #: PD59 Cost: $0.00 View courses in your shopping cart
The Burnaby Community and Continuing Education ECE Program is co-sponsoring pedagogical gatherings for early childhood educators. Educators will select storybooks by contemporary Indigenous artists to live with throughout these story gatherings. With the mentorship of Indigenous authors, storyteller and visual artists, we will engage with a pedagogical practice of living inquiry with storybooks and will together envision respectful ways of honouring their presence and teachings in early childhood education. These gatherings seek to attend to the propositions of the BC Early Learning Framework to incorporate Indigenous worldviews in the education of young children in meaningful and authentic ways, being mindful of the ethical responsibility to support Indigenous rights (Government of British Columbia, 2019). The session will be hosted by Elaine Beltran-Sellitti. Optionally, educators may participate in sharing their work for research. Signed consent will apply.A Certificate of Attendance will be issued for 20 hours of Professional Development.
